Hair loss

Most of the time, when a men gets older, he starts to experience hair loss above the temples. The loss of hair continues over time around the top of the head and might claim the hair on the sides and back of the head as well, as a result ending up with total baldness. This form of baldness is called androgenic alopecia because it’s linked with the presence of androgens (hormones that control masculine characteristics). This will help you understand how it works, and how you can prevent it.

1. Understanding how male boldness works. This specific kind of hair loss is related to levels of free (unbound, circulating) testosterone, that gets turned to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Because of some mens hair follicles that respond to DHT by shrinking. In order to counter male hair loss on a biological level, here is what you can do:

  • reduce the level of free testosterone in your body (which is not the same as the level of total testosterone)
  • prevent free testosterone from being turned into DHT

2. Drugs sometimes work by inhibiting further hair loss, but on occasion it stimulates new growth of hair. When you stop taking them, the hair loss tends to pick up where it left off before you started the treatment.

  • Minoxidil (Rogaine, Regaine) is utilzed directly on your scalp. Approved by the FDA. The way it works is uncertain.
  • Finasteride (Propecia, Proscar) is used orally in the form of  prescribed pills. It is a little more effective than minoxidil. It works by combining the enzyme that would otherwise convert free testosterone to DHT.

placed  to the balding area in the course of several treatment sessions. There
is however, a small risk of skin infection and it can be pretty costly, but the end result is effective and permanent. The reason it works is because hair is moved from parts of your head where the follicles aren’t sensitive to DHT.

4. Stimulate hair growth by M.Gardson’s way or similar. When hair follicles go dormant, you start to lose hair. The dormant follicles will no longer grow hair, so when
abundant follicles in a specific area shut down, your hair will start to look thinner. You’re not bald – you just have a lot of dormant hair follicles that haven’t been awoken yet.

5. Prevent insulin resistance. Exorbitant levels of insulin circulating in blood (hyperinsulinemia) are associated with the presence of male pattern baldness (among other unpleasantries, like nearsightedness and the formation of skin tags). Hyperinsulinemia is a common symptom of insulin resistance, which is linked with a high-carbohydrate diet, and cured by exercise and weight loss. With this said, avoid excess carbs and being fit will help you keep the hair on your head, even though no study has proven that for certain yet, at the very least it’ll make you look and feel better about yourself in other ways!
